Part of the problem has to do with the day fixed to our calendar. There are various reasons one might chose this day for celebration; it falls days after the solstice and various peoples commemorate rituals in this time of year. However the question one must ask oneself is: did the apostles note and know when Christ was born? They counted every year from his birth. Roman records contain proof of his crucifixion and age. To the Hebrews keeping track of birthdays was normal. Moreover the Hebrew calendar was a lunar calendar and without provisions like leap years, it does not coincide with the solar colander and the months shift in comparison to the Gregorian calendar we use. After centuries the day commemorating the birth of Christ would have moved according to the day it was celebrated in the lunar calendar in comparison with the solar calendar: it loses day as did the Julian version of our calendar, both Hebrew and Julian calendars now include things like leap years. It seems by my calculations that Christmas is the day according to the original Hebrew calendar barring any deviation based on season that coincided to Dec 25 the day it was fixed to our calendar. Thus the two calendars shifted till the days counted in the Hebrew bible were fixed in our solar calendar and Christmas was placed on our calendar as a holiday

In response to:Christmas understood

Rofl! It is good to be sceptical - I am highly sceptical of so many things as my posts will verify... and that includes mediums who lay claim to some extraordinary gifts. I have had to be highly critical of my own gift too. Being sceptical keeps us on our toes and less vulnerable than those who blindly follow and believe individuals who blatantly lie. <br>
